چکیده

The present study was undertaken to check and compare the virtue of plant extracts in relation larvicidal activities against Anopheles subpictus. lethality toxicity methanolic aqueous Ocimum sanctum, basilicum, Leucas aspera Coleus amboinicus early 4th instar larvae A. subpictus were determined laboratory. All Lamiaceae showed moderate effect after 24 hours exposure as evidenced by low lethal concentration time varied crude extracts. mortality rate recorded LC50 determined. Larval between 80% 92% observed extract 60-85% selected species. highest activity obtained with methanol O. sanctum. findings have paramount implications practical control mosquito adults aquatic ecosystem medicinal plants studied are routinely accessible enormous quantities. These easy prepare, inexpensive, safe for which might be used directly agents small dimension habitats or breeding sites around human dwellings.

Larvicidal Efficacy of Plant Extracts against the Malarial Vector Anopheles stephensi Liston (Diptera: Culicidae)

Malaria is transmitted by Anopheles stephensi and for controlling the malaria parasite Plasmodium spp., the vector mosquito has to be controlled. Extensive use of synthetic and chemical insecticides has resulted in environmental hazards and also in development of physiological resistance among vector mosquito species. Plant products are considered to be a potential alternative approach as they ...

Efficacy of indigenous plant extracts on the malaria vector Anopheles subpictus Grassi (Diptera: Culicidae)

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Mosquito control is facing a threat due to the emergence of resistance to synthetic insecticides. Insecticides of plant origin may serve as suitable alternative biocontrol techniques in the future. The purpose of the present study was to assess the ethyl acetate, acetone and methanol extracts of Andrographis paniculata, Eclipta prostrata and Tagetes erecta leaves tested ...

Larvicidal activity of medicinal plant extracts against Anopheles subpictus & Culex tritaeniorhynchus

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Mosquitoes transmit serious human diseases, causing millions of deaths every year and the development of resistance to chemical insecticides resulting in rebounding vectorial capacity. Plants may be alternative sources of mosquito control agents. The present study assessed the role of larvicidal activities of hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone, and methanol dried...
